The former Food Network host was arrested by Santa Monica, Calif., police after two homeless men told them that Cruz wanted to hire them to kill his wife, Jennifer Campbell.

Cruz, who is expected to serve half of the nine-year term, smiled and winked at his wife — who was seated in the front row of the courtroom — during Monday's sentencing appearance, the AP reported.
