Check Out Game of Thrones' Immersive New Opening Sequence

The final watch has begun.

The premiere ofGame of Thrones Season 8 has finally arrived, and in it, there is a lot to absorb.

From Daenerys' (Emilia Clarke) dramatic arrival to Winterfell to the Stark sisters' icy reception of her to Cersei (Lena Headey)'s NSFW alliance with the swashbuckling Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbæk) to Jon-slash-Aegon (Kit Harington) finally finding out he's no Snow, the beginning of the end was an event of an episode.

Before we got to any of that, though, the HBO epic opened with a brand new bit of title art that served as a sort of status check for our all our favorite places .. well, some of them anyway.

First, we see the Wall tattered at Eastwatch as ice begins to make its way south past the Last Hearth (RIP little Umber) and on towards Winterfell. Instead of coasting right by House Stark's home, though, we then take a visual trip through the Great Hall and below to the family crypt (which, cryptically seems to be reassembling itself from pieces along the way). This deep dive into our favorite castle is soon followed by a journey through a fancier rendition of King's Landing, fit with a sword-by-sword fanning of the Iron Throne. Annnd, that's it, folks.

There's no more trips across the Narrow Sea. No more visual reminders of the whereabouts of the Iron Islands or the Free Cities or even the Riverlands. We're at the end of the game now, and the board is much, much smaller.
