Charlie Sheen caused $7,000 in damages to his room in the hotel's Eloise Suite — named after the heroine in Kay Thompson's children's books — before being hospitalized early Tuesday morning in New York, TMZ reports.

Photos of the trashed room — which were first obtained by TMZ — show torn curtains, overturned tables, a damaged lighting fixture and broken glass, on which Sheen cut his foot, the website said.

A law enforcement official told The Associated Press that the Two and a Half Men star checked himself into a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation after a woman told police he threw furniture in his hotel room. Sheen's rep said the actor was hospitalized after he suffered an "adverse allergic reaction" to medication. He was released Tuesday evening.

"Oh my man, I'm fine. The story is totally overblown and overplayed as far as the reality of the scenario," Sheen told Radar Online in a series of text messages. "I know what went down and that's where it will stay ... under wraps."

Manager: Charlie Sheen will return to work this week

Sheen, who was not charged or arrested, is set to return to work this week.
