Report: Charlie Sheen offers to pay Two and a Half Men crew

During a radio interview Monday morning on The Dan Patrick Show, Sheen explained that his raspy voice was the result of his trying to go back to work. "I went back to work and I was banging on the stage door. 'Hello? Where is everybody?' I don't know what happened; I guess everything is closed," Sheen told Patrick. "We're on forced hiatus. [The execs] said, 'You get ready and we'll get ready' ... and I got ready and went back and nobody was there ... I don't know what to tell ya." It was unclear from the context if Sheen was joking.

Sheen, 45, did say that he wants to return to work. "I'm here and I'm ready. They're not. Bring it," he said. "I think maybe it was a timing thing. They didn't think it was going to happen this fast ... I heal pretty quickly, but I also unravel pretty quickly."

Charlie Sheen: "I have a lot of work to do"

The CBS star, who says he's 100 percent clean and feels great, also spoke candidly about his sobriety. "It's off-and-on. I was sober for a long time five years ago and was just bored out of my tree and thought, 'This is inauthentic; it's not who I am,'" Sheen said.

Two and a Half Men went on a production hiatus on Jan. 28 after Sheen began rehab treatment.
