CBS SAYS IT'S SORRY

A joke on last Friday's The Late Late Show — in which a graphic with the words "Snipers Wanted" appeared below an image of Republican presidential candidate George W. Bush — is being condemned by CBS and producer David Letterman. But both parties are stopping short of blaming host Craig Kilborn. "The graphic, which was not accompanied by any remarks from Craig Kilborn, should not have been included in the telecast and is not consistent with our broadcast standards," said a joint statement from CBS and Letterman's Worldwide Pants production company. "[We] deeply regret this incident." CBS says it's investigating the matter "and will take appropriate action." A rep for Bush tells the New York Daily News: "We accept their apology."
