Castlestar Tamala Jones says didn't find out that she was being dropped from the show until a couple of days before fans did - and she was surprised that the news of her and Stana Katic's impending departures went public so quickly.

"I actually found out on Friday," Jones tells Access Hollywood. "I got the call, and I didn't think it was going to be exposed so soon, because I thought, let the fans get through the season and then announce."

10 burning questions we have about Stana Katic leaving Castle

Castle is currently in the middle of its eighth season and has not yet been renewed for a ninth. However, on Monday it was announced that, if the show is brought back, Katic and Jones will not be returning.

Jones says she has no hard feelings about her exit, and hints that the current season will provide closure for her character, Lanie Parish. "I feel good. I have had the biggest blessing being on Castle," she tells Access Hollywood. "I was there from day one all the way through eight seasons. And I really just wanted five... Eight is completion and new beginnings, so I think I'll finish great."
