A judge has denied a request for Casey Kasem's children to take temporary conservatorship, TMZ.com reports.

In October, Kasem's three children filed for conservatorship in order to take control from Kasem's second wife, Jean Kasem. Kasem's children, Julie, 38, Kerri, 41, and Mike, 40, allege that their stepmother has prevented them from seeing their 81-year-old father for the past several months. Kasem has advanced Parkinson's disease. Kasem's offspring, along with more than a dozen friends of the American Top 40 host, staged a protest outside of his home last month, but Jean refused to give in.

Jean had previously offered her stepchildren visitation rights if they dropped their request for conservatorship, but they rejected her offer. The judge denied the conservatorship request because he believes attorneys can work out visitation rights and also noted that Kasem is getting proper treatment at home.

Casey and Jean have been married since 1980 and have one child together, Liberty.
