Tonalist won the 146th Belmont Stakes Saturday, thwarting California Chrome from becoming the first Triple Crown winner since 1978.

California Chrome was pulled to the outside on the final turn, but failed to make up the extra distance, coming in fourth in a dead heat with Wicked Strong. Commissioner came in second and Medal Count was third.

Hot, hot, hot TV eye candy!

Tonalist, who was listed at 8-1 on the morning lineup, was ridden by Joel Rosario, who secured his first Belmont Stakes win. The horse is trained by Christophe Clement and owned by Robert S. Evans.

Tonalist did not run in either the Kentucky Derby or the Preakness, which irked California Chrome owner Steve Coburn. "If you've got a horse that earns points to run in the Kentucky Derby, those 20 horses that start in Kentucky [should be] the only 20 eligible to run in all three races," he said after the race. "This is the coward's way out."
See Coburn's full rant below.
