Pixar's first female heroine kicked some serious butt at the weekend box office, beating out new releases Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Seeking a Friends for the End of the World.
Brave, featuring the voices of Kelly McDonald and Emma Thompson, grossed an estimated $66.7 million to take the top spot, Box Office Mojo reports.
Box Office: Madagascar 3 stampedes over Tom Cruise, Adam Sandler
After two weeks at No. 1, Madagascar 3 fell to second place, taking in $20.2 million. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, based on the popular book of the same name, debuted at No. 3 with $16.5 million.
At No. 4, Prometheus snatched $10 million. Completing the top 5, Rock of Ages grabbed $8 million. Snow White and the Huntsman and That's My Boy ranked sixth and seventh, drawing $8 million and $7.9 million, respectively.
Rounding out the top 10: The Avengers (No. 8, $7 million), Men in Black 3 (No. 9, $5.6 million) and Steve Carell's latest, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (No. 10, $3.8 million).
