Police said the wife of Miami Dolphins wide received Brandon Marshall stabbed him with a kitchen knife, The Associated Press reports. According to Marshall's agent, he is currently recovering.

Michi Nogami-Marshall, 26, was arrested late Friday and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Nogami told authorities she was defending herself, according to the arrest report obtained by the AP.

Marshall, 27, had told police earlier that he slipped and fell onto a broken glass vase, but police noted that evidence at the couple's home didn't substantiate that claim.

Nogami-Marshall was released from jail Saturday on $7,500 bail.

"This is a very difficult time for Brandon and family, thankfully he will make a full recovery," Marshall's agent, Kennard McGuire, said in a statement obtained by the AP.

Marshall and his future wife met when they were both students at Central Florida University. They married in Miami last July, several months after Marshall was traded from the Denver Broncos to the Dolphins.

Marshall, a two-time Pro Bowl pick, was arrested in Atlanta in March 2009 on misdemeanor battery charges stemming from a fight with Nogami-Marshall, his fiancée at the time. The charges were later dropped when both refused to testify.
