Former major league baseball player-turned-actor Brad Lesley died over the weekend, according to TMZ.com. He was 54.

Lesley had been living in a nursing home and undergoing dialysis for kidney issues for the past seven months. He was rushed to a hospital in Marina Del Rey, Calif. on Saturday night before he ultimately died of kidney failure.

Early in his career, Lesley was a pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers, as well as the Hankyu Braces in Japan before turning to acting. He's well-known for his roles in Mr. Baseballand Little Big League, in which he played angry pitcher John 'Blackout' Gatling. He also appeared as himself in Space Jam.
