Box Office: Terminator Genisys and Magic Mike XXL Fizzle Over Holiday Weekend

Jurassic World saw fireworks again at the box office over the holiday weekend, but new releases Terminator Genisys and Magic Mike XXL fizzled in comparison, Box Office Mojo reports.

Weekend estimates place Jurassic World at $30.9 million, barely holding off Inside Out at $30.1 million. But even if Monday's final numbers push Inside Out ahead (the animated film technically won the weekend, with a five-day total of $45.3 million), Jurassic World has now surpassed Avengers: Age of Ultron to become the fifth highest-grossing movie of all time with an estimated worldwide gross of $1.4 billion. The film's domestic haul of $558.2 million also makes it the fourth biggest North American showing of all time, edging out The Dark Knight ($534.9 million).

But while the dinosaur franchise continued its quest for world domination, Terminator Genisys did little to jumpstart interest in a revival of the futuristic franchise. The film came in at No. 3 with only $28.7 million. Meanwhile, Channing Tatum's Magic Mike XXL pulled in only $11.6 million, after opening at No. 1 Wednesday with $9.3 million. Ted 2 closed out the top five with $11 million.

Max fell two spots to No. 6 with $6.61 million, and Spy dropped to No. 7, bringing in $5.5 million in its fifth week in theaters.

Rounding out the weekend's top 10 were San Andreas (No. 8, $3 million), Me and Early and the Dying Girl(No. 9, $1.3 million), and Dope (No. 10, $1 million).
