Box Office: Ninja Turtles 2 Defeats X-Men
And the Lonely Island fails to make an impression
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadowsowned the box office this weekend, knocking X-Men: Apocalypseout of the top spot.
According to Box Office Mojo, Ninja Turtles 2 will end the weekend with an estimated $35.3 million, easily beating out X-Men's $22.3 million. The Emilia Clarke tear-jerker Me Before You debuted above expectations, earning $18.3 million and coming in third. Alice Through the Look Glass, however, continued to fall, grossing only $10.7 million in its second week.
The Angry Birds Movie ($9.8 million), Captain America: Civil War($7.6 million) and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising ($4.7 million) all managed to top the opening of The Lonely Island's Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping ($4.6 million).
The Jungle Book ($4.2 million) and The Nice Guys ($3.5 million) rounded out the top ten.
