The Tom Hanks island drama, Cast Away, rang in the new year as the most popular box office attraction for the second weekend in a row. The film grossed an estimated $41.5 million over the four-day holiday weekend, bringing its 11-day haul to a robust $111.2 million. Mel Gibson's What Women Want remained at No. 2 with $25.4 million ($114.8 million to date), followed by the Sandra Bullock knee-slapper Miss Congeniality at No. 3 ($18.2 million), Nicolas Cage's The Family Man at No. 4 ($16.8 million), and Walt Disney's The Emperor's New Groove at No. 5 ($14.5 million). The Matt Damon romance All the Pretty Horses failed to generate much heat with moviegoers, grossing $4.3 million and landing in 11th place.
