The Governor of Massachusetts has lifted the hours-long lockdown that left Boston empty for most of Friday while a manhunt was conducted for a Boston Marathon bombing suspect . However, 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has still not been found.

"We remain committed to this. We do not have an apprehension of our subject ... but we will," Massachusetts State Police Col. Timothy Alben said at a news conference held shortly after 6 p.m. local time.

One Boston bombing suspect dead; second suspect at large

Also at the news conference, Gov. Deval Patrick announced that mass transit in the city of Boston would resume. "You can get back out as long as you are vigilant," Patrick urged. "There is still a very, very dangerous individual at large."

Although the lockdown has been lifted, authorities said that additional state police troops will help patrol Watertown — where dozens of homes were searched Friday — for the next two to three days. "There is much left to be done," Alben said.

Authorities did not offer much new information as to the whereabouts of Tsarnaev, who fled on foot after an early morning shootout with police that left his older brother and suspected accomplice, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, dead. However, Alben said it is believed that Dzhokhar is still in the Boston area. "His ties seem to be here," he said.

Although he called it a "complicated investigation," Alben said the FBI, state police and all of the local police departments are still determined to find Dzhokhar. "We are committed to seeing a conclusion to this case," he said.
