The Big Bang Theory Cast Found Something Fun to Do with All That Money

You've heard of more bang for your buck, but what about more bucks because of a Bang? CBS' science-minded comedy The Big Bang Theory and its creator Chuck Lorre have teamed up for a cool way to give back to the science community: by starting up a scholarship for fledgling scientists, UCLA announced.

The Big Bang Theory and the Chuck Lorre Family Foundation have created The Big Bang Theory Scholarship Endowment at UCLA, offering financial support for low-income college students pursuing the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

So far, $4 million has been raised, thanks to a donation from the Chuck Lorre Family Foundation and gifts from the comedy's actors, executive producers, crew and studios.

"When we first discussed it, we realized that when Big Bang started, this freshman class were 10-years-old," Lorre told Deadline. "Some of them grew up watching the show, and maybe the show had influence on some of them choosing to pursue science as a lifetime goal. Wouldn't it be great if we can help?"

We'll see if Lorre sets up a grant for two guys raising half a kid too.
