Skyfallactor Ben Whishaw came out Sunday and revealed that he entered into a civil partnership with composer Mark Bradshaw last August in Sydney, Australia, The Daily Mail reports.

Whishaw and Bradshaw met on the 2009 film Bright Star, in which Whishaw played the famous poet John Keats and for which Bradshaw composed the score.

More out and proud celebrities

Whishaw, 32, has been notoriously private about his personal life over the years, but his spokesman confirmed his union Sunday. "Ben has never hidden his sexuality, but like many actors he prefers not to discuss his family or life outside of his work. Due to speculation, I can confirm that Ben and Mark entered into a civil partnership in August 2012. They were proud to do so and are very happy."

Whishaw most recently co-starred in Skyfall as Q, the MI6 quartermaster. He is also known for his roles in the 2008 remake of Brideshead Revisited and the BBC2 drama The Hour. Bradshaw most recently composed the music for the Elisabeth Moss-led miniseries Top of the Lake.
