As if there isn't enough emotional programming on tap for the holidays already, Pixar has now made its latest feel-punching short film available free for the digital crowd (embedded above) for just a few days.

The short -- Domee Shi's Bao -- centers on a woman who gets the surprise of a lifetime when one of her dumplings comes to life and needs her to mother it. Although he starts out cute and cuddly and sweet, the days of teen malaise, backtalk, and sass soon follow, leaving our mom suffering some serious empty nest syndrome.

The kicker is that it's not just this animated little dumpling that's really making her so upset -- rather, it's the real-life boy who's grown much too big for his mom to baby him anymore that's got her feeling so blue, longing for a time when she was walking with him hand and hand down the sidewalk and such.

It's all pretty sad and relatable and weird and sweet, and even if you've already seen it, you'll want to sit down and rewatch with your mom. 'Tis the season for family after all!

Bao debuted ahead of the theatrical release of The Incredibles 2 in June.
