Watch My Show: Baby Daddy's Dan Berendsen Answers Our Showrunner Survey

Writer Dan Berendsen has become quite the tween and young adult whisperer in recent years, penning series and movies for the young generation — including Hannah Montana: The Movie, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam and ABC Family's recent drama The Nine Lives of Chloe King. Now Berendsen is back at ABC Family, but this time returning to his sitcom roots with Baby Daddy. The show, which airs Wednesdays at 8:30/7:30c, stars Jean-Luc Bilodeau as a twentysomething guy whose ex-girlfriend dumps their baby at his doorstep and then splits. Tahj Mowry, Melissa Peterman, Derek Theler and Chelsea Kane also star. Berendsen took a pregnant pause to tell us why we should make room for Daddy.
TV Guide Magazine: I've got room in my life to watch just one more show. Tell me why it should be yours.
Dan Berendsen: Because all that ails the world can be cured with laughter — and there's more than a good chance that Derek Theler will take his shirt off for one reason or another.
TV Guide Magazine: Who should be watching?
Berendsen: Everyone. But the network would love it if you happen to be a woman between 18 and 49 and are easily influenced by commercials.
TV Guide Magazine: What happens if we don't watch your show?
Berendsen: Someone may leave an out of work baby on your doorstep. And I'll get fired.
TV Guide Magazine: Give us an equation for your show. 
Berendsen: Friends plus Three Men & A Baby minus Steve Guttenberg divided by Full House plus Two Broke Girls minus the word "vagina."
TV Guide Magazine: What's the best thing anyone has said or written about your show?
Berendsen: That it's funny.
TV Guide Magazine: What's the worst thing?
Berendsen: That it's not funny.
TV Guide Magazine: Who was right?
Berendsen: Obviously the first guy. The second guy doesn't even like puppies!
TV Guide Magazine: What's an alternate title for your show?
Berendsen: Hot Guys Holding Babies
TV Guide Magazine: What makes your cast the best on TV?
Berendsen: They don't know they're stars yet so they're all delightful.
TV Guide Magazine: What credit of yours would you prefer we forget?
Berendsen: Pauly. It wasn't my fault.
TV Guide Magazine: If you weren't the showrunner for this show, what series would you most like to work on?
Berendsen: Archer or Veep. Both hilarious.
TV Guide Magazine: Let's scare the network. Tell us an idea that didn't make it out of the writers' room.
Berendsen: It probably involved Tucker (Tahj Mowry) sleeping with Bonnie (Melissa Peterman). That gets pitched a lot. But check back in Season 7.
