Avengers Stars Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner: Black Widow Is a "Slut"

It might take a superhero to save the Avengers: Age of Ultronpress tour.

Less than 24 hours after footage surfaced of Robert Downey Jr. walking out of an interview in which a reporter asked about his "dark periods," another, even more cringe-worthy video has surfaced. This one features a Digital Spy chat with Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner, in which they talk about what a "slut" Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) is - to a female interviewer, no less.

In response to a question about Black Widow becoming romantically involved with Bruce Banner, aka The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), even after fans had been rooting for her to end up with Captain America (Chris Evans) or Hawkeye (Renner), the actors had an almost simultaneous response.

"She's a slut," Renner deadpans, as Evans laughs uproariously.

"I was gonna say something along that line," Evans adds, after collecting himself. "She's a complete whore."

Hilarious, right?

The interviewer plays along, noting that Black Widow may be content to "be the sidekick" and "flirt away" with everybody in future movies.

"She has a prosthetic leg anyway," Renner notes.

The exchange has drawn ire from fans who found the remarks sexist, while others have defended them as a joke. Evans and Renner have not responded to the backlash.
