When Ashley Madekwe learned that her character, Ashley, was being written out of ABC's Revenge in this season's premiere, she asked the writers to get rid of her in "a big, splashy death." Instead, Ashley was run out of town. Zzzzzz. But now Madekwe will see some real action as one of the stars of WGN America's period drama Salem, which is based on the real-life Massachusetts witch hunts and will debut this spring.

She plays Tituba, one of the first women accused of witchcraft. "I had a costume fitting today, and it's quite a different look for me than I had on Revenge," Madekwe says. "The series takes place in the 1690s. In our version, there really are witches, but they're not the ones being accused."

Madekwe's real-life husband, Iddo Goldberg, has a recurring role on the show. "Iddo plays Isaac," she says. "He's a guy who gets the word fornicator branded on his forehead. You know those Puritans; they looked down on fornication."
