The Faux Canary will fly again. Madison McLaughlin will reprise her role as Evelyn Sharp in Arrow's fifth season.
Evelyn first appeared in the Season 4 episode "Canary Cry," in which she took on the Black Canary mantle to get revenge on Damien (Neal McDonough) and Ruve Darhk (Janet Kidder) for murdering her parents. But according to Variety, when Evelyn returns for a multi-episode arc, beginning in the second episode of Season 5, she'll be taking on a new name: Artemis.

In the comics, Artemis was a villain just like her parents, Tigress and Sportsmaster. However, in the animated seriesYoung Justice, she got to be a superhero, playing sidekick to the Green Arrow after Roy Harper left. Artemis also dated Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale), which could be a fun relationship to explore in potentialThe Flash crossovers.
So which Artemis will Arrow give us next season: the supervillain or the superhero?
Evelyn definitely seemed a little off-balance last season, but we could see Oliver (Stephen Amell) take her under his wing and mold her into a hero. And Team Arrow is going to need all the help it can get! With Thea (Willa Holland) off finding herself and Diggle (David Ramsey) in the military, Oliver could use another archer around.
Arrow returns Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 8/7c on the CW.
