American Idol: Did the Right Person Go Home? Heck No!

And who had the best performance of the night?

American Idollost a good one last night.

As the show whittled down the contestants, Sarina-Joi, Quentin and Nick were the last three waiting for those coveted spots in the Top 11. And that, my friends, is the problem with all these singing competition shows. This week's entire bottom three was made up of charismatic, talented and consistent singers, and yet a literal child, who barely knows his own voice, easily sailed through (and will likely continue to do so for weeks).

What songs does American Idol need to retire?

In the end, it was between Nick and Sarina-Joi, with the latter getting sent home after her performance of Demi Lovato's "Neon Lights." We can admit that Sarina-Joi's performances this week weren't up to the high standard she set earlier in the competition, but it was still far too early to give her the boot. She had practiced and fought for four years to make it to Hollywood week, but unfortunately, she stumbled at the worst possible time.

After Sarina-Joi's departure, the second biggest surprise of the night was Joey. While Joey's quirks can be polarizing, to say the least, her unique cover of Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX's "Fancy" was undeniably fantastic.

Who knows? Maybe she'll last longer than we thought.
