The True Star of American Horror Story: Roanoke Is Sarah Paulson's Hair

American Horror Story: Roanoke is the franchise's most mysterious season yet, but there's one thing I can state for certain: Sarah Paulson's hair is the definition of perfection.

After her crimped, platinum 'do in Hotel and the Marcia Clark curls in thePeople v. O.J. Simpson, Paulson was due for a good hair day. And this season delivered in spades, giving the Emmy winner a luxurious, golden-blonde wig that feels far more out of place in her character Shelby's run-down farmhouse than any of the pig carcasses.

Because how can one wig give us so much life when Paulson's character is surrounded by so much death?

Look how good it looks flapping behind her when she's running in pure terror!

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how her hair manages to look so good, we're focused on that instead of the human teeth raining down on her!

"Oh, are you looking at this creepy cellar we just discovered, or are you looking at how the sun turns my perfect waves into a multi-dimensional feast for your eyes?"

When does she even have time to style it in between all her wine drinking and ghostly encounters? Becuase this braid is divine!

And don't even get me started on this half-up, half-down, purposefully disheveled style that probably took forever to achieve.

But even when Shelby just throws it in a simple ponytail, it manages to look effortlessly chic.

Also, who wakes up looking this good? If I was awoken in the middle of the night only to discover entrails strung up in a sacrificial pyre, I would not look like a walking Tresemmé ad.

And this is definitely not what I would look if I had just almost been drowned by a bunch of torch-wielding maniacs. I mean, c'mon. She looks fantastic.

She even turned her husband's near-death bed into a showcase for her voluminous curls.

So while the verdict is still out on AHS: Roanoke as a whole, when it comes to the hair, there truly is one wig to rule them all. Bow down to the reigning wig of American Horror Story!
