Alvin Lee, whose performance at Woodstock with band Ten Years After was featured in the subsequent documentary, died Wednesday, according to his website. He was 68.

"With great sadness, we have to announce that Alvin unexpectedly passed away early this morning after unforeseen complications following a routine surgical procedure," read a statement on the site. With his band, the British singer and guitarist performed at Woodstock in 1969, where their song, "I'm Going Home," became a key part of Michael Wadleigh's film and soundtrack about the festival. The band went on to release 10 albums before they split in 1973. Most recently, Lee released his 14th solo album, Still on the Road to Freedom, last August.
