The show premieres in August
Hopefully your stomach is ready to handle summer foods both in real life and on TV. Celebrity chef Alton Brown has announced that after a seven-year hiatus, his signature show, Good Eats, is returning to the Food Network in August with a batch of brand new episodes.
Sharing the news in an Instagram video, Brown teased that the show is coming back with a brand new name -- Good Eats: The Return -- and that he's already back in the kitchen whipping up new things for us to enjoy. While the revived series might be slightly retooled, it's safe to assume that it will still include lots of refrigerator shots. A cabinet shot is even teased in the announcement video!
The original Good Eats ran for 14 seasons, with a whopping 249 episodes, beginning in 1999. Brown ended the show in 2012, telling Larry King at the time, "I crossed the 250-episode line, and I realized that I was tired. It was a very stressful show to make; it was completely scripted, we did between 300 and 600 pages of research. ... I think I saw that primetime food shows were going to go to competitions and reality." However, in 2015 he explained on Facebook that if fans wanted more Good Eats, they needed to talk to the Food Network about that.
Clearly, some good food fortune came to Brown and Food Network between then and now, because brand new episodes of the series are on the way.
Good Eats: The Return premieres Sunday, August 25 at 10/9c.
