Team Stuart 4eva!
All My Children icon David Canary has passed away at age 77, The Hollywood Reporter confirms. He died of natural causes in an assisted living facility in Wilton, Conn., on Nov. 16, according to his family.
Canary began his decades-long tenure on the soap opera as Adam Chandler in 1984. A few years later he would start pulling double duty playing both Adam, one of the most fiendish and wealthy residents of Pine Valley, as well as his mild-mannered, sweet twin brother Stuart.
Canary played the twins for 26 years and racked up five Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Actor along with 16 more nominations.
Before becoming a legendary member of the All My Children cast, Canary played Candy Canaday, the foreman of the Ponderosa, on NBC's Bonanza.
Prior to moving to New York to pursue acting, Canary came very close to becoming a professional football player. Canary was offered a spot on the American Football League's Denver Broncos in their first year of existence.
His family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association's David Canary Memorial Fund.
He is survived by his wife Maureen; children Christopher and Kathryn; brother John and grandson Donovan.
