Netflix's Teen Sitcom Alexa & Katie Gets a Premiere Date

Alexa & Katie, Netflix's Disney Channel-style teen sitcom, finally has a premiere date. The titular best friends' high school journey starts Friday, March 23, the streaming service announced Monday.

Alexa & Katie stars Mighty Med's Paris Berelc as Alexa and newcomer Isabel May as Katie. The pair is excited to start their freshman year of high school, but there's a complication: Alexa is undergoing treatment for cancer. But when her best friend Katie is by her side, Alexa is prepared to handle anything life may throw at her. Katie's even willing to shave her head in solidarity! The series is an uplifting tribute to female friendship, making it kind of like the anti-13 Reasons Why.

The series co-stars Saved by the Bell's Tiffani Thiessen, who makes her return to high school comedy as Alexa's mother Lori.

Alexa & Katie was created by Hannah Montana writer Heather Wordham and is executive produced by Malcolm in the Middle's Matthew Carlson.
