Alec Baldwin Denies Using Racial Epithet in Confrontation with Photographer

Alec Baldwin has been accused of assaulting a photographer and using a racial epithet during a confrontation outside the actor's home on Sunday, The New York Post reports.

Baldwin, 54, was first approached by a New York Post reporter asking for a comment on a lawsuit against his wife, Hilaria. The reporter told police that the 30 Rock star then grabbed the reporter by the arm and told her, "I want you to choke to death," according to the Post. The reporter also played her tape recording of the incident for the police, according to the report.

The Post claims that Baldwin then called G.N. Miller, a retired NYPD detective who is now a Post staff photographer, a "coon", a "crackhead" and  a drug dealer" who "just got out of jail." Miller claims that Baldwin also bumped him in the chest, but Baldwin alleges that the photographer "pushed into him," according to a complaint the actor later filed.

Miller and Baldwin both filed harassment claims against each other when the cops were called to the scene. Baldwin's spokesman called the accusations "completely false." Baldwin added in a statement: "The claim of racist remarks is one of the most outrageous things I've heard in my life."

Baldwin also took to Twitter to explain his side of the story on Sunday. "My publicist has just informed me that the 'photographer' from the Post is claiming I called him a racial epithet, prior to calling the cops," he wrote. "That's kind of magical thinking, isn't it? The Post accusing me of racism?"

In an interview with Gothamist, Baldwin also flat-out denied the accusations against him. "I don't think I've ever uttered a racial epithet to someone in my lifetime," he said. Baldwin then said that Miller "bumped into me. ... He banged into me with his shoulder, because he was right on top of me with the camera," he continued "In my mind, it was deliberate. I've had that happen before. It happens sometimes, because they want to bait you, they want you to do something."

Miller and Balwin's respective complaints will not go further, unless either man pursues possible civil action.
