Alan Alda, Hugh Dancy to Guest-Star on The Big C

Alan Alda will appear in an episode of The Big C's upcoming second season, Showtime announced Monday.

The five-time Emmy winner, 75, will scrub in as Dr. Atticus Sherman, an oncologist whom Cathy (Laura Linney) meets with after her previous treatment failed.

Alda is best known for his portrayal of army hospital doctor Hawkeye Pierce on M*A*S*H. He's also known for his work on The West Wing, ER and, most recently, 30 Rock.

Hugh Dancy will also join The Big C as a new recurring character, Deadline reports.

Earlier this year, Linney won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy for her work on the series.

The new season of The Big C premieres Monday, June 27 at 10:30/9:30c on Showtime.
