Remember those hints a few episodes back on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. that Director Fury moved heaven and earth to save Coulson? Yeah, that was pretty literal.

Does Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. need to be super to succeed?

When Coulson (Clark Gregg) set out to save Skye's (Chloe Bennet) life, he uncovered the truth that T.A.H.I.T.I. was actually a real place. It's a room inside an underground bunker that housed an alien whose blood was used in GH325, the cellular regeneration formula that healed Coulson's heart enough to bring him back to life. So Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) actually did use something otherworldly to save Coulson, though the question still remains as to why.

Though Coulson tried to stop Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) from using it on Skye, the drug did rehabilitate her, which is actually a bad thing. See, the whole reason Quinn (David Conrad) shot Skye was because the one and only thing The Clairvoyant has never seen is how Coulson was brought back to life. If Coulson used the same methods to save Skye, then The Clairvoyant would finally learn the truth.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: What really happened to Agent Coulson?

But seeing the truth was so shocking to Coulson that he nearly chose to let his protégé die rather than put her through the same pain. What does this mean for Coulson — and now, Skye? Who was that alien being used to bring people back to life, which was destroyed in the failsafe explosion? And how will its blood change Skye, the 0-8-4? Those answers are hopefully coming soon, though next week is dedicated to the arrival of Lorelei (Elena Satine) and Lady Sif (Jaimie Alexander), so don't hold your breath!

What did you think of the apparent real answer to how Coulson was brought back to life? Hit the comments!

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on ABC.
