Appearing on the British talk show This Morning to promote her new memoir, Saunders said she plans to start writing a script after Christmas. "I'm very close to picking up a pen," she said. "That's how close [a movie] is."
Ab Fab was first broadcast on the BBC in the early 1990s, and then brought back in the early 2000s. Rumors of a potential movie have been circulating for years, and gained strength when Saunders and her co-star Joanna Lumley reunited in 2012 for three 20th anniversary specials.
The British comedy follows Eddy (Saunders) and Patsy (Lumley), two hard-living business women who continually engage in exploits to try to recapture their youth.
