ABC Signs Eve to Development Deal, Orders Pilot From 12 Years a Slave Writer

Eve is eyeing a possible return to TV. The rapper, who previously starred on the self-titled UPN sitcom from 2003 to 2006, has signed a development deal with ABC, TVGuide.com has learned. Eve will also executive-produce the project, which is being targeted for the 2014-2015 development slate, with Aaron Kaplan (The Neighbors). She most recently appeared on the big screen in Bounty Killer and guest-starred on two episodes of Glee.

ABC also announced on Tuesday that it has ordered a drama pilot from 12 Years a Slave writer John RidleyAmerican Crime is about a group involved in a racially charged trial whose personal lives are examined as their worlds are turned upside down. Michael McDonald (Cougar Town) will executive-produce with Ridley. Ridley was nominated for a Golden Globe award for best screenplay.
