ABC announced Friday it has picked up the series The Kids Are Alright from executive producer Tim Doyle.

Set in the 1970s, the seriesfollows a traditional Irish-Catholic family as they navigate major and minor changes during one of the most turbulent decades in American history. The show, inspired by Doyle's childhood, follows parents Mike and Peggy Cleary (Michael Cudlitz and Mary McCormack) as they struggle to raise eight children. According to ABC, "the times are changing and this family will never be the same."

The Kids Are Alright joins Single Parents, A Million Little Things and The Rookie in ABC's gaggle of freshman series for the 2018-2019 season.

ABC will announce its full fall schedule next week.
