ABC: The End of Grey's Anatomy, Shark Tank Week and a Revamped Revenge

When will Grey's Anatomy end? Although ABC Entertainment president Paul Lee stopped short of confirming that this season will be the show's last at the Television Critics Association fall previews Sunday, he did say that creator Shonda Rhimes is "planning a number of series outs" should any cast members not renew their contracts. As it is, the network hopes it will "go on for many, many years to come."

Shark Tank Week... really

 Lee announced that the network will lead up to its fall programming with Shark Tank Week, six of the Sharks' favorite episodes, nightly beginning Sunday, Sept. 8 at 8/7c through Friday, a week before the season premiere. (Not coincidentally, it'll air opposite NBC's multi-day event Million Second Quiz.)

Nashville's new notes Next season, "You'll see [Rayna James] really drive plot... and the rivalry between Rayna and Juliette will come to a head," Lee said.
Revenge revamped Lee admitted that the drama "stumbled a little bit" in its overly convoluted second season. Going into Season 3, showrunner Sunil Nayar will bring "a slightly less complicated" story line.

One night only Lee explained that Dancing with the Stars will only air one night per week, combining the elimination and performance shows, in order to "focus and event-ize" the show and give it a hook. Also, ABC is open to having fan-favorite pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy back on Dancing with the Stars some day. "Maks is part of the family... he may well be back," Lee said.
An American Rebel ABC's new comedy Super Fun Night stars Pitch Perfect breakout Rebel Wilson, playing an American. Lee said that it was Wilson's decision to forgo her native Australian accent. "She's actually extremely good at it," he said. "She's so funny, she brings such a presence to everything she does.. It was her choice and we supported it."
Suburgatoryback to its roots Lee said that Suburgatory creator Emily Kapnek will return the sitcom to its "fish-out-of-water" elements from Season 1. There is no timetable for when it will return.
Happy Endingscouldn't stand alone "Obviously we were thrilled with Happy Endings behind Modern Family, but a show has to earn its right to attract audience on its own," Lee said. "We couldn't find its sea legs away from a strong lead-in."
A new Alice Lee said that launching Once Upon a Time in Wonderland on Thursday was part of the strategy of creating a block of empowered women that night. "This is Alice like you've never seen her before," he said. "She's a truly kick-ass Alice." Also: There are no current plans for additional spin-offs of the Once franchise.
