ABC Cancels Of Kings and Prophets

The kingdom has fallen at ABC

Many networks have worked tirelessly to avoid officially canceling shows this season, instead "cutting the order" in order to not pull any completed episodes from the schedule. However, ABC hasn't had much luck with this strategy. After cutting one of its bigger news shows, Wicked City, last fall, the network has now done it again with its recently debuted Of Kinds and Prophets, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

An epic in the vein of Game of Thrones, Of Kings and Prophets opened to lousy reviews from critics and ultimately didn't make it past two episodes before the rug was pulled out from under it (the same was true of Wicked City). ABC's Shark Tank spinoff Beyond the Tankwill take over its Tuesdays at 10 p.m. slot.

ABC's Of Kings and Prophets is a swords-and-sandals slog.

It hasn't been a good year overall for ABC when it comes to new dramas. In addition to Wicked City, Blood & Oil also saw its episode order cut to 10 for its first season, and the only big push the network has left this season is the Shondaland production The Catch, which the jury's still out on.

At the moment, the plan for airing the remaining episodes of the series remains unknown, but has been made clear by THR that they will not air on ABC.
