A Million Little Things' Unpredictable Finale Will Leave Us With More Questions

The first season of A Million Little Things comes to a close on Thursday, which means that fans will finally get all of their Barbara Morgan questions answered. However, as we should all know by now, a single mystery has a way of creating a lot of different questions. Executive producer DJ Nash teased to TV Guide that Barbara isn't the only thing you should be focusing on as we head into the season's final hour.

"Just when you think you know someone, you don't. That's been something that has been a theme of my life, and it's certainly been a theme of the first season of the show," he said. "And I think just when you think you know what a couple's dealing with or going through, or just when you think you know what a person's going through, you don't. So in this finale, we'll see many card flips that way, where you're so sure a story is leading one way, and we're going to take it a different way."

One of those cards involves Rome (Romany Malco), who we saw grab a suicide prevention hotline number from a poster at the hospital in the penultimate episode, driving us to wonder how far Rome has come in battling his depression.

"I think Rome, realizing that helping others who have been in that situation might be a really great way to take control back and to take the power back in his life," Nash said. "I'm excited to follow that story for him. In the second season, we see him help other people in the way he needed help."

That's good news for Rome, but that spirit may not be spread to some other members of the group. Eddie (David Giuntoli) and Katherine (Grace Park) have yet to address their almost kiss in the kitchen during the penultimate episode. Those lingering sparks could make filing for divorce very complicated -- but they will have to talk about it before the end of the season.

"What has been so amazing about writing this show this season for me, and the other writers, is we are writing about things that affect our lives so very directly, and yet, when you write a story as opposed to live a story, you have the opportunity to change the ending to the ending you want," Nash teased. "And so, that kiss will be referred to. It will come back, and let's see what they do with it."

The A Million Little Things Season 1 finale airs Thursday, Feb. 28 at 9/8c on ABC.
