She who produces and once guest-starred on ABC's Ugly Betty now has landed a plum gig on another Thursday-night series. Salma Hayek has been confirmed for a recurring role on NBC's Emmy-winning 30 Rock, playing no less than former GE exec Jack Donaghy's new love interest.
“I have been a fan of [30 Rock exec producer] Tina [Fey]’s talent, both as an actress and a writer, since working with her years ago on SNL," Hayek says in a statement. " I am so excited to be part of such an intelligent, funny show, as well as working with the brilliant Alec Baldwin and the rest of the cast of 30 Rock."
Fey, in turn, hails Hayek as "smart, funny, and gorgeous, adding that "she will be a great strong presence opposite Jack Donaghy."
Jack's previous love interest have been played by Edie Falco, Emily Mortimer and, in theory, Condoleezza Rice.
The third season of 30 Rock kicks off Oct. 30. And I have to tell you, the premiere is awesome. "The only thing Cathy and I need 'assistance' with is deciding which John Mayer song to 'do it' to."
