There's only one character on Game of Throneswho has toughed it out through harsh winters, survived capture and won a major battle without compromising his morals or betraying his friends. His name is Ghost Stark.

That's right, Jon Snow's (Kit Harington) direwolf is perhaps the most badass character on the show. He is definitely the most underrated one. As of last Sunday, he's one of only three direwolf puppies that have survived in Westeros since the Stark family adopted the litter of six in the show's pilot. Ghost should get a medal just for his survival, but he's also a brave warrior and a loyal companion.

Game of Thrones: Please let this Shaggydog conspiracy be true

TVGuide.com thinks this injustice needs to be remedied. If Jon Snow and everyone aren't going to appreciate Ghost, we will. Here are three reasons why he's the most underrated character on Game of Thrones.

1. He's loyal: Ghost has stuck with Jon through his move to the wall, his adventures with the wildlings, the battle at Castle Black and through Jon's short time being dead.

He was the only one to stay around long enough to see if Melisandre's (Carice van Houten) spell would actually bring Jon back to life. What thanks does he get? Jon peaces out of Castle Black and doesn't even seem to remember to take Ghost with him (See the GIF below where Jon leaves, but Ghost is nowhere to be found).

Honestly, who expects Jon Snow to become the prince that was promised without this dog?

2. He's brave: Please note that neither Jon Snow nor many of the men of the Night's Watch would be alive if Ghost hadn't stepped in at crucial points. He helped them at Craster's Keep against the old man who loved to marry and impregnate his own daughters. He was also essential in helping them defeat the wildlings when they attacked Castle Black in the show's fourth season.

3. He stands up for the innocent: Jon Snow isn't the only person that Ghost has defended. He also stepped in to save Gilly (Hannah Murray) from being raped by some of the Night's Watch last season after they knocked out Sam (John Bradley). It doesn't matter if he's outnumbered, Ghost stands by what he thinks is right and stands up for those he can see can't protect themselves.

Thank you Ghost for all that you do. You've been more than a man's best friend and don't get the due that you deserve. Cheers to you sir, and here's to hoping you get to be the one that rips out Ramsay Bolton's (Iwan Rheon) throat.

Game of Thrones airs Sundays at 9/8c on HBO.
