The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations will be announced Thursday, July 12 at 11:25 a.m. ET from the Television Academy's Saban Media Center in Los Angeles by The Handmaid's Tale's Samira Wiley and New Amsterdam's Ryan Eggold.

The announcements will be streaming live on Emmys.com and the Emmys' Facebook and YouTube pages.

The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony will air live Monday, Sept. 17 on NBC. Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update anchors Michel Che and Colin Jost will host the anticipated event.

Last year's Outstanding Drama Series winner The Handmaid's Tale will look to defend its title from Game of Thrones, which is returning to eligibility this year after arriving too late in 2017 to compete in last year's Emmys. Other likely drama nominees include Stranger Things, The Crown and This Is Us.

On the comedy side, it'll probably be a toss-up between Atlanta and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel for the series trophy, since reigning three-time winner Veep missed the eligibility period this year. Other likely comedy nominees include Silicon Valley, black-ish and Will & Grace.
