Vaudeville pratfalls, sight gags, and ribald one-liners have always been producer-director Mel Brooks's mainstay. Here the jokes are tossed haphazardly from Brooks's gag bag and roll out ineffectively in a spoof of the "Star Wars" films. Long rumored to be in the works, Mel Brooks is officially developing his 1987 feature comedy, Spaceballs, as an animated series for the G4 cable network, to premiere in fall 2007.
