Mohner is a Roman centurion, and a Christian when Sbragia takes the throne after Emperor Constantine dies. Sbragia wants all Christians put to death, so Mohner seeks refuge in the camp of the barbarians. He returns to Rome, disguised as a gladiator, and defeats three men to win the
Christians their freedom. Mohner is sent back into the arena just as an earthquake takes place, killing Sbragia, along with most of the Roman population. Mohner escapes to preach the gospel.
