Brent falls for Austrian Scott during their attempt to flee from the Germans. En route to Czechoslovakia, they are separated. Brent plays the noble lover when he offers himself to the Nazis as a prisoner in exchange for the release of seven men, among them Scott's fiance. Brent and Scott
reunite, marry and look forward to a bright future. An overabundance of anti-Nazi propaganda gets in the way of plot development and dramatic intent, and characterizations are stereotyped.
