01americas-next-top-model-tyra1

When America's Next Top Model returns for its 17th cycle, it will bring some familiar fierce faces along with it. The all-stars season will pit 14 fan favorites (many of them troublemakers, of course) against each other in what creator-host Tyra Banks recently described as more of a celebrity finishing process than a modeling school. It's been a while since we've seen many of these ladies, so as a refresher, we're revisiting these contestants defining moments and giving our predictions on which one will be on top.

Shannon Ratliff (Cycle 1)

What's Her Deal? She's Christian… and commercial! Defining Moment: She refused to participate in Cycle 1's penultimate shoot, in which the girls were asked to pose nude. And she lived to see another day! (Fellow contestant Robin Manning also nixed nudity and was eliminated as a result.) Will She Win? Her intense eyes and smile could carry her far, but without Adrianne Curry around to mock them, will she be any fun to watch?

Camille McDonald (Cycle 2)

What's Her Deal? She was the Cycle 2 villain. As her competitor Catie admired, "She's not here to make a bunch of best friends, but she's here to win this." Defining Moment: After getting negative feedback on her walk from a designer at a go-see in Milan, Camille said, "This is my signature walk, and it's the walk that's going to make me famous." It didn't, but her rant came close to doing so. Will She Win? Camille was 25 when she filmed 2004's Cycle 2, which makes her at least 33 now. She's Got the Look would have been a better venue. Her mouth will be her downfall, but the claw marks she leaves along the way should be impressive.

Brittany Brower (Cycle 4)

What's Her Deal? Frequently drunk and always lots of fun, she did the party-girl legacy of then-judge Janice Dickinson proud. Defining Moment: With her looks frequently compared to those of a porn star, Brittany reeled things in, only to be criticized for losing her personality and subsequently eliminated. No fair! She tried so hard to please! Will She Win? Let's hope so! One of the rare bright spots of the dud-filled (though still wildly entertaining) Cycle 4, Brittany's all-star inclusion is a chance to make right a years-old wrong.

Lisa D'Amato (Cycle 5)

What's Her Deal? A wild woman who'd eventually appear on Celebrity Rehab, Lisa alienated everyone in the house so that her only real friend was a tree out back that she called "Cousin It." Defining Moment: She peed in a diaper to impress the cast of Jackass, with whom the models posed one week. They were like, "Meh." Will She Win? Really, as long as she espouses more advice like her manic confessional offering of, "Take a break! Eat a cookie!" it doesn't matter if she wins because we already will have.

Bre Scullark (Cycle 5)

What's Her Deal? Short but not necessarily sweet, she is the ANTM picture of sassiness that stops just short of villainy. Defining Moment: In London, she made a huge deal about granola bars that went missing. Since she didn't know who stole them, she lashed out, dumping Nicole's Red Bull and eventually calling Kim an "ugly person." The location of the granola bars remains a mystery. Will She Win? Her sharp tongue will have her win several battles (at least in her own head), but most likely lose the war. At least it'll reinforce the paradox at the center of ANTM: Drama keeps you around, but it also keeps you from victory.

Bianca Golden (Cycle 9)

What's Her Deal? She's so mean! After ANTM, she famously fought with the family of Nikki Blonsky at an airport. Alleged vagina-kicking ensued. Defining Moment: She barely contained her glee upon the elimination of Heather, her gentle competitor with Asperger's who irritated Bianca so. Will She Win? Yes, because she will poison all of her competitors until there is no one left but her.

Dominique Reighard (Cycle 10)

What's Her Deal? She's a weird one. On the show, she was missing a tooth close enough to the front of her mouth to be frequently visible. Depending on your capacity for reality TV compassion, this either made her woefully miscast or a total underdog. Defining Moment: She yelled "Brazilia!" (or something that sounded a lot like it) at the end of her improvised CoverGirl Commercial that was supposed to be in Italian but was basically just gibberish. Will She Win? Perhaps! She won "Modelville," the brief reality show within The Tyra Banks Show featured in 2008. That was basically Top Model: All-Stars before Top Model: All-Stars.

Isis King (Cycle 11)

What's Her Deal? On every cycle, there is what could be called "the girl with the thing." The "thing" is usually an innate feature or affliction that probably helped get her cast and inevitably will be exploited by the show. In the case of Isis, the girl with the thing had an actual thing: She was ANTM's first (and thus far only) transgender contestant. (She has since undergone gender reassignment surgery.) Defining Moment: During a swimsuit shoot, she spread her legs wide, which was sloppy and perilous. Will She Win? Maybe! It's a good time for LGBT causes and Tyra's always one to embrace a zeitgeist.

Sheena Sakai (Cycle 11)

What's Her Deal? Vivacious and pneumatic, she closed a circle by bringing an over-the-top, Russ Meyer-girl sensibility to the camp of America's Next Top Model. (How perfect that Sakai once used the stage name "Sheena Satana," chosen after Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!'s Tura Satana!) Defining Moment: During one panel, she lied about not having breast implants and then almost immediately after, came clean and admitted that indeed, she was enhanced. She was rewarded for her honesty, even though it wouldn't have existed without her initial lie. Will She Win? Like Tura Satana's Pussycat character, Sheena clearly wants "everything...or as much as I can get." Expect her to cackle her way to the top.

Allison Harvard (Cycle 12)

What's Her Deal? Known years before ANTM on the Internet as "Creepy Chan," resulting from widely circulated self portraits that featured her staring, giant eyes, Allison did not disappoint in the weirdness department on the show. Defining Moment: She painted a picture of Tyra Banks with a nose bleed. Will She Win? She's awkward yet knowing, innocent yet witty (she described one competitor's bleeding-heart rant as "a bit too Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul for me") and with her anime eyes and round baby face, she's just fascinating to look at. If she doesn't win, she should at least be able to turn out a few web-worthy, sensational moments. Which is basically the same thing as winning in 2011.
13 of 16 Nigel Barker/The CW, Celeste Canino/The CW

Laura Kirkpatrick (Cycle 13)

What's Her Deal? She's short as a non-model (she appeared on the short-girls cycle of this show, which was a multi-episode joke in retrospect), sweet as her Gramma Wanda Sue's pies and dyslexic as a mirror image. Defining Moment: Nigel Barker (during photo shoot): "What are you thinking?" Laura: "Milkshakes!" Nigel: "What else do you like besides milkshakes?" Laura: "Little baby cats." Will She Win? It would be nice if she did! She was such an emotional disaster when she lost out to Nicole Fox that this could be a reckoning.
14 of 16 Jonathan Mannion/The CW, Celeste Canino/The CW

Angelea Preston (Cycle 14)

What's Her Deal? In her own words upon being eliminated, Angelea was "still that bitch." Let's hope this holds true! Defining Moment: "OK, yeah that's my girl but so what?" was her take on "I'm not here to make friends." Angelea was not all mean, though: She was just as prone to arguing as to being goofy, like when she showed the judging panel her club strut that included head nodding and pointing, seemingly out of nowhere. Will She Win? Maybe, but if she doesn't, she'll think no less of herself. That is for sure.
15 of 16 Jessica Brooks/The CW, Celeste Canino/The CW

Kayla Ferrell (Cycle 15)

What's Her Deal? She talked incessantly about wanting to become the first lesbian to win ANTM (she probably should have added "out" in front of "lesbian," to ensure accuracy). Anyway, she didn't. Defining Moment: She showed up for semi-finals with an insane wig sewn into her head that looked like a crown of ramen noodles. Will She Win? Perhaps! If Tyra can engage in activism simply by giving someone a useless title, she might as well, right?
16 of 16 Troy Jensen/The CW, Celeste Canino/The CW

Alexandria Everett (Cycle 16)

What's Her Deal? The only thing she wore more than her famous bonnet was a facial expression of absolute misery. Defining Moment: She bit the head off a fellow contestant who asked to see the zit on her lip that was plaguing her during a photo shoot. Will She Win? No, but as long as she continues to ensure that 2011 is the Year of the Bonnet, the hat wins. Let's see if it'll put the careers of the previous ANTM winners to shame. Shouldn't be hard!
