Cristina and Owen's wedding

"It's definitely an unexpected proposal," Kevin McKidd says, adding that the proposal takes place in a flashback. The rushed wedding is held at Meredith's house and will set up more drama for newlyweds. "The audience will see Owen and Cristina constantly question whether they made the right decision," McKidd says.

Callie, Arizona and... a baby?

Callie will pop a life-altering question early in the new season, but does that mean a baby is in their future? Despite Jessica Capshaw's real-life pregnancy, a little Calzona is not planned… yet. "This is not being unveiled," Capshaw says of her baby bump. "This is below a counter, in back of an X-ray, hidden by a big file. This baby is camera-shy."

Cristina is not herself

"There's a little too much change there and Meredith is worried about Cristina's stability," Ellen Pompeo says of Cristina and Owen's wedding. "All of a sudden, she doesn't want to do surgery; she's not the same Cristina Yang. She doesn't have the same ambition, and she's looking through bridal magazines."

Derek isn't the chief anymore

"He goes back to doing his first love, which is surgery," Patrick Dempsey says. "I don't think he's at all interested in managing the hospital. He wanted it, but then the realities of the job were just too much for him, and it was too distracting."

The Teddy-Owen-Cristina triangle is dead

Now that the love triangle is over, Teddy will get involved with trauma counselor Andrew Perkins (guest star James Tupper.) "The Teddy part of me is extremely sad [that it's over], but I think it's an interesting place for her to go … and see how she deals with relationships," Kim Raver says.

Meredith has some new roommates

Jackson and April, the only Mercy West docs to survive last season's murderous rampage, will move into Casa Grey this season, which may help audiences change their feelings towards April, whose crush on Derek proved nearly fatal. "Meredith will accept April in order to get the audience to accept her," Pompeo says.

Who is the real power couple on Grey's Anatomy?

"People think it's about Meredith and Derek; it's really not," Pompeo jokes. "The love story is really Cristina and Meredith."

How is everyone coping with the tragic shooting in the Season 6 finale? The doctors of Seattle Grace must be cleared by trauma counselor Andrew Perkins (Tupper) before heading back into surgery. "[Perkins] comes in and he's just clearing people and he doesn't really know them," Pompeo says. "Meredith feels like she knows them, and she really knows that they're not OK."
