No. 9: Is Chikezie staging a comeback After two weeks in last place in our rankings, he performed a high-energy "She's a Woman" that charmed the audience and judges and bumped him up two spots with 1.4 percent of the vote.

No. 8: Up one spot in our rankings is Ramiele Malubay, who earned 1.4 percent of the vote after dedicating "In My Life" to her show-friend Danny Noriega (who was in the audience to cheer her on).

No. 7: Though she'd never heard the song before, Amanda Overmyer's "You Can't Do That" was a rockin' success, and it paid off in our rankings: She moved up three places, the week's biggest gain, with 1.6 percent of the vote.

No. 6: His simple, sweet "Across the Universe" apparently didn't gain Michael Johns any new fans; he dropped two spots with 5.6 percent of the vote.

No. 5: The week's biggest slip in the rankings belonged to Jason Castro, who dropped three spots after Simon criticized his "If I Fell"; Paula, speaking for girls everywhere, nearly swooned over the heartfelt performance.

No. 4: Continuing her string of strong performances was Carly Smithson, who moved up two spaces in our rankings with 11.9 percent of the vote. Simon compared the powerful, confident vocalist to Kelly Clarkson.

No. 3: Brooke White held firm to her top spot among the girls with 14.9 percent of the vote after a teary-eyed, barefooted, piano-playing version of "Let It Be."

No. 2: After a shocking meltdown from previously perfect David Archuleta, the golden boy was knocked from the top spot for the first time in three weeks (but still gained an impressive 24.6 of the vote in our rankings).

No. 1: And we have a new leader! David Cook, who two weeks in a row performed rockin' renditions of familiar songs, gained 28 percent of the vote on the strength of his "Eleanor Rigby."
