Debut: Ed O'Neill and David Strathairn star in a crime drama following the clashes and cautious cooperation between NYPD detectives and FBI agents when their cases converge. In the opener, Special Agent William Preecher (Strathairn) deputizes a resentful Det. Mooney (O'Neill) and his partner, Vincent Trout (Jeffrey Pierce), when their murder investigation threatens an FBI sting operation aimed at the Russian Mob. Sarah Day: Kim Dickens. Premise: An ambitiously tough cop drama about a veteran NYPD detective and his young partner never took hold (despite being scheduled after `Survivor') and was canceled after six episodes. Trading badges, star Ed O'Neill then took the role of Joe Friday in ABC's revival of `Dragnet.'
