Episode Detail: Big Sur: California's Wild Coast - Living Edens
Exploring wildlife in and around “Big Sur: California's Wild Coast,” “where the spirit of wilderness speaks to all who will listen,” says narrator Sally Kellerman. Offshore, in an “eerie, undulating forest” of kelp, abalones eat the kelp. They're also seen satisfying another primal urge, and on the beach, an elephant seal gives birth. The skies above Big Sur are ruled by peregrine falcons and the recently reintroduced California condor, “an emblem of the wild California,” says Kellerman, “and how close we came to losing it.” Following the film: filmmaker Bruce Reitherman narrates a “making of” segment.
