Lyle Lovett and his “Large Band” showcase standards they recorded on the 2003 CD “Smile,” joined by Randy Newman, Francine Reed and trumpeter Mark Isham. Highlights: the title tune, “Mack the Knife,” “Blue Skies,” “What I Say,” “Straighten Up and Fly Right” and Burt Bacharach's “Walking Tall.” Lovett also performs his own standards “That's Right, You're Not from Texas” and “If I Had a Boat,” while Newman sings “Political Science” and “I Think It's Going to Rain Today”. Lovett and Newman duet on “You've Got a Friend in Me” and “Long Tall Texan,” while Reed sings “What Do You Do” and Isham solos on “Mack the Knife.”
