“Inspector Morse: Remorseful Day,” the 64th and final case taken on by the crafty and cranky Oxford detective (John Thaw) is both poignant and personal. The victim---the first victim, actually---is a 48-year-old nurse whose naked, battered body is found tied to her bed. She was known for enjoying the company of men, and one of the men she knew was Morse, who could use medical attention. “He's not a well man, is he, sir?” Lewis (Kevin Whately) remarks to Chief Superintendent Strange (James Grout). And, Lewis adds, “he's a bit grumpy at the moment.”
